Hourly rates

Hourly rates in Treks can be relatively advanced but allow for great flexibility. For rates, the following applies:

  • They are valid for a specified period of time

  • They can belong to a specific user or all users

  • They overlap from specific users to all users as well as from subprojects to parent projects The last point requires further explanation.

Say we have project A.

We have set an hourly rate of SEK 600 for all users.

Karl reports one hour on this project and the billable amount is thus SEK 600 (600 * 1).

We are now adding a new hourly rate, for the same period, but specifically for Karl of SEK 650.

Karl's reported hour now has the billable amount of SEK 650.

Lisa reports for one hour on the same project, the billable amount for her is SEK 600. Because she does not have a rates specified specifically for her, it applies to all users.

So far, everything feels pretty obvious. If there is a specific rates for a user during the period, that rates is used, otherwise the rates that applies to all users is used.

We are now posting a subproject to A, we call the project B.

Karl reports one hour on project B and the billable amount is thus SEK 650. There is no hourly rate on project B but it is a subproject to project A and there is a specific hourly rate specified for Karl.

Lisa reports one hour on project B and the billable amount is thus SEK 600 according to the same principle.

We are now adding a new hourly rate to project B for Karl of SEK 700.

Karl reports one hour on project B with the billable amount of SEK 700 and he reports one hour on project A with the billable amount of SEK 650.

In this way, you can control how hourly rates "cascades" up a level in the project structure. How you choose to combine hourly rates is up to you. If time is reported on a customer project where there is no hourly rate that can be applied, you as the administrator will receive an alert. You can also look for the number 0 in the billable amount column in the profit / loss reports.
